Product Description – Cisco Persistent Storage Device
The Cisco Persistent Storage Device (PSD) is an advanced storage device. Basically this device is an extension of existing storage on the Cisco Content Services Gateway (CSG). Cisco Persistent Storage Device has the same protocol interface as the billing data collector. This device can also receive Content Services Gateway generated Call Detail Records. The normal operation is that the Cisco Content Services Gateway sends the Call Detail Records to billing data collectors until they are unreachable. At that moment, the Cisco Content Services Gateway usually redirects the Call Detail Records to the Persistent Storage Device, including those not yet acknowledged by the data collectors. The Cisco Persistent Storage Device can extend the storage capacity from Hours to Days. This is possible because of the onboard storage space of 37GB for Call Detail Records, which is equivalent to 264 Million Call Detail Records for multiple days' worth of user traffic. As far economic aspect of a business is concerned Cisco Persistent Storage Device has proved to be very economical because it can safely store Call Detail Records of 3 Cisco Content Services Gateway.
Key Benefits are –

Allows flexible network operations.
Call Detail Records are stored on the Cisco PSD in the exact order they are generated.
The Cisco PSD can be easily extended (software upgrade only) to support more client types including Gateway GPRS Support Node and Packet Data Serving Node.
