The Cisco SFS 3012 Multifabric Server Switch is a high quality server switch that helps in interconnecting server resources into a high-performance server fabric, then connecting that fabric with shared pools of input / output and storage resources, thus mapping the resources together to deliver virtual compute services as per the demand of various applications or different business policies. The SFS 3012 Multifabric Server Switch includes up to 24 10-Gbps InfiniBand ports and up to 12 expansion slots for Cisco InfiniBand-to-Ethernet or InfiniBand-to-Fibre Channel gateway modules. The Cisco Server Switch provides with utility computing by consolidating server input / output into a shared pool, thus enabling the virtualization of compute resources. Multiple types of traffic can be easily handled with this kind of fabric switch simplifies the data center architecture by running over a single physical connection.
